They really don't know how they sound

I'm a month late to it, but I just had to comment on this article in the Columbian (a local newspaper here in southwest Washington), regarding the rising demand for elder care workers:

"Deportation of immigrants might exacerbate the shortage of direct-care workers who play a pivotal role in providing long-term care services…". Why, in an article on elder care, is the author veering into a discussion of immigration enforcement? Well, in the very next paragraph: "Direct-care workers typically perform demanding, high-stress work for low wages and often no benefits…"

Seems to me an implicit admission that they want low-skill illegal immigrants so they can be exploited. How kind & caring.
